OPIA

3D Tracking & CG Sound Synchronization

Multi-Instrumentalist Icelandic artist Ólafur Arnalds has built a community of fans and fellow artists called OPIA. To celebrate and highlight the community’s shared passions, his team put together one of many exhibitions in Berlin, Germany. In which, one of our pieces was exhibited. To compliment the ethereal, calming and emotional feeling of both Arnold’s music and the OPIA community at large, we created a visual piece centered on a trip to Iceland we took. The idea is built around the concept of Synethesia. The idea that music, shape, sound, motion, color and more come to life out of an inspiration stimulation from your surroundings. In this case, quite viscerally, Kirkjufell mountain in Northwest Iceland. We created this piece with a combination of drone footage we shot, 3d tracking and animation in c4d, and a helpful hand from runway AI for rotoscoping.
